A recent study in which teens were sent text messages encouraging them to exercise, along with the use of other electronic gadgets, failed to motivate teenagers to exercise any more than teens who received similar encouragement without the use of this technology.
How did this study work? Teens were given pedometers tracking their distance and prompted to exercise with electronic messages. At the end of the study, it was discovered that teens who did not receive electronic based communications actually exercised more than those who did.
Here, one thing is for sure, teens need something more than walking and the use of electronics to get their bodies moving.
