Federal Stimulus Funds for Bike Riders

The Portland, Oregon regional Trimet Transit Agency announced recently that they will spend $1,000,000.00 in Federal Stimulus funds to expand and improve bike parking at facilities throughout the transit system in Portland.

A little further south in San Francisco, Caltrain will receive $200,000 in Stimulus funds that will be spent to expand bike car operations. Here, 1,000 additional bike commuters will be accommodated.

Chinese Exports Take a Dive

Chinese exports have taken a serious dive in recent months. According to a recent Business Week article, January saw a 17.5% drop in exports from China and a very painful drop of 25.7% in February.

In light of this news, export figures for March are not likely to look much better. At the end of the day, these export figures are likely to affect China's growth figures for 2009.
